The Volkswagen 1989 Westfalia LT Florida Camper Model History In 1989 the VW Westfalia LT Sven Hedin model was replaced by a new model called the VW Westfalia Florida Camper. The furniture in the new model was the same light grey with a dark grey edging that was in the 1988 Westfalia Sven Hedin. The upholstery material was different as were some of the specifications and the external logos etc. The rear of the van had opening doors and the kitchen ran along the side of the bus so that the rear door could be used as an entrance or exit. 4) 1989 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida Camper Upholstery Specification The upholstery in the 1989 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida camper was grey with multicolored stripes and was called “Köper-Karo-Grey/White”.
The curtains for the 1989 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida camper were light grey.
The 1988 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida had roller blinds and mosquito nets on the opening window on the left hand side.
5) 1989 - 1993 Volkswagen Westfalia LT Florida Camper High Top Roof Specification The high top roof on the 1989 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida camper was an original Westfalia hightop constructed using strong Glassfibre with a lowered rear. All-round insulation with 40 mm thick mineral fibre mats. Two opening double windows left and right with mosquito protection and blackout blinds. Three insulated lifting air vents each fitted with mosquito nets.
Roof panelled using solid plates. Side wall panels with imitation leather finish. In the front part a pull out double bed of 160 cm x 200 cm is mounted above the cab.
On the rear lowered part of the roof there is a luggage rack which can be accessed using the ladder mounted on the left rear access door.
6) 1989 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida Camper Flooring and Carpeting Specification The flooring in the rear of the 1989 - 1993 VW Westfalia LT Florida camper was a grey PVC hard wearing floor surface.

Curtains and Roller Blinds The opening window on the left hand side is with roller blinds and mosquito nets. All other windows have grey curtains. Living / Bedroom Area At the centre of the vehicle is the spacious living / sleeping room with 2 large seats. The 2 seater seat, behind the drivers cab, is adjustable to both driving and living position ie facing the front or rear. This seat folds horizontal to make part of the downstairs bed.
It is equipped with 2 lap belts. The 2 seater seat at the rear also has 2 lap belts and folds horizontal to complete the downstairs bed. Cocktail table on the left hand side.
Table 110 cm x 50 cm can be put in place as and when required.
To sleep the seat can be folded by simply tilting the backrest of the back cushion to make a double bed of 195 cm length and 125 / 115 cm wide.
Kitchen At the rear on the right is the kitchen combination with two flame gas cooker, large sink with hot and cold water mixer tap, cutlery draw and fridge.
Fridge 45 litre fridge working from 12v, 220v and gas.
Storage Room The vehicle is equipped with plenty of storage space. Inside the the middle bench, wardrobe, roof storage cupboards on the left and right hand side inside the vehicle, sideboard cupboard on the right hand side and material pockets at the end of the seats and next to the wardrobe
Shower Room The shower cell with wash basin at the rear left of the vehicle is constructed from glassfibre plastic in one piece so is completely watertight. Equipment includes a hot and cold water mixer tap with integrated shower head, mirror with integrated light and a place for a portable toilet.
Water Installation The freshwater tank has a capacity of 100 litre. Ten litre Gas operating hot water boiler. Additional 10 litre water reservoir in the warm water boiler. There is a central pump for running water and for hot water an automatically operating hot water boiler. Outside water fill up point with locking cap. Under the vehicle is a 70 litre waste water tank with swivel drain stop-cock. Gas Equipment External underbody 8 kg LPG tank with fuel level gauge, 3 way valve and Eis-Ex preheater for use in cold temperatures. Heating Thermostatically controlled Eberpacher 2300 WE night heater using either diesel or petrol depending on engine specified Electrical 220 Volt external hook up with internal outlet socket and safety trip cut out. 12 Volt circuit with two leisure batteries, split charge relay and automatic battery charger to power transistor lights, the water pump and the heater fan.
Four transistor lights and an 2 additional reading lights in the roof area. Control Panel Control unit in rear with a diode display showing the charge level of the two batteries, a level indicator for the fresh water tank, a control indicator showing when the fridge or hot water boiler are operating on gas and the operation.
Flooring The flooring was a plywood base with bitumen insulation and durable grey PVC overlay. Driver and Passenger Seats Westfalia comfort seats with integrated headrests and height adjustable armrests in upholstery matching the seat banks in the living area.
Additional Model Equipment Rear Step (removed if towbar specified). Adapter cable for mains hook up. 90 Amp Alternator. Soundproofing. Additional soundproofing in drivers cab (for petrol models as this is standard on diesel models). Storage pocket in drivers door. 12 volt socket on instrument panel. Dimming interior mirror. Steering lock. Three point inertia seat belts for driver and passenger. Rubbish Bin.
